Summers Family St. George Getaway 2015

What an incredibly fun weekend getaway we had!  We met up with the Summers cousins and just girls for the weekend at St. George!  The kids were so excited to see Grandma's new house and to check out Southern Utah.  To start off we headed to the Mountain Meadows Massacre site - which kind of confused the kids as we tried to explain the events that occurred there.  But I feel that those things are important to discuss openly and honestly with them as they grow up so its not a huge surprise later.  Waffle Love was the next stop….and oh my!! They don't call it love for nothing - they were to die for!  I ate every last bite:) We then hit the local swimming pool - that is actually enclosed because it is so blasted hot in St. George.  The kids all loved it - complete with slide and diving board, we had a lot of little fishes out there.  We went to the showing of Beauty and the Beast at the Tuhacan Theater in the red mountains.  It was so awesome - the effects, the singing, the open air theater - and ending with fireworks made it a great night!

After being completely exhausted we decided what better way to relax than to go off to Vegas baby!  Hah!  The older girls really wanted to see the strip and hit up the M&M store so we decided to make a day out of it.  Sam, was not impressed.  He was really quite disturbed by what he saw there and how it made him feel.  Again, another one of those moments when I am glad he recognized the difference in how he feels at our home vs. places like that.  So after talking it over with him and trying to make it up to him with M&M's and Nike socks…it turned out to be a fun, but exhausting day.

Our final day took us to a much more sacred spot - the St. George Temple!  Beautiful!  We also visited Brigham Young's winter house and I was impressed again at what a strong man Brigham Young was.  We ended the day with a little Fiesta Fun and then with some tired, hot kids we boarded the airplane back to Yakima!  It was such a fun filled three days and we look forward to more of these fun weekends in the future!
