White Pass, WA

President's Day we took Sam and Jack to ski at White Pass.  We left Yakima sun shining, singing of spring, and soon found White Pass engulfed in a blizzard.  Since we learned our lesson the hard way with the van's snow skills the week before - we opted for our snow vehicle - the Jetta!  You know it's bad when your all-terrain, all weather vehicle is a VW Jetta, but it got us safely there and back.  The boys were excited to show me their skiing skills since this was their 2nd trip to White Pass.  They both did great.

Jack of course had a crazy unbalanced fall/crash every few minutes when we first put his skis on, but soon got a hang of of.  Sam is an old pro and pizza pied his way down the hill.  It was really busy, so we decided to introduce the boys to the chair lift to make the most of our runs.  It made them a little nervous being so high off the ground.
The biggest downside of the day was that neither Shawn or I had goggles and it was blowing sleet like little needles in our eyes the whole way down the hill.  At one point I was skiing down the hill with my eyes closed praying that I wouldn't run into a tree or another skier!  Thankfully Jack got cold and convinced me to go into the lodge and get a hot chocolate! (Darn!)

It was a really fun day, and great to spend time with the boys we don't usually get.  On the way back - Jack was exhausted from all of his fall over and skiing in between Shawn's legs that he wiped out.  But not without a fight!  I kept looking back at him and he would try to pry his eyes open and smile at me laughing at him.  Finally sleep won and he embraced the darkness!

Snakes, Snow, Shades

Where does the time go? Just when I think I'm on top of blogging - I realize 2 weeks have gone by.  The past week has found us in quite a pickle weather wise.  Yakima + Snow + Van = BAD!  We got a foot of snow on Saturday, which led to unplowed roads in the residential area, which led to church being cancelled on Sunday, and me getting the van stuck really bad trying to drop Lyv off to preschool!  I curse the day we lost our 4 wheel drive, but I can't argue the handiness of the van!  But the kids have LOVED the snow.  It was almost like they forgot what it was.  They were out every chance they could, and managed to make a pretty great snow man yesterday.  Now its back up to 56 degrees so the snow will be a memory of the past, lucky for the van.

The kids have been busy with their activities, Sam's latest project: Pinewood Derby Car!  He takes his derby seriously (well, let's rephrase his DAD takes this very seriously) and we've made a few trips to Lowe's and contract a professional designer to come up with the car design.  You think I'm kidding - okay I am). It's a big deal and big deals here usually require protective goggles:

The kids convinced me to take them to the Reptile Show at the school last Monday.  I'm not a reptile fan, but my kids are fearless with them.  Even princess Lyvie - she got right up with the kids touching and petting all of the snakes! Scary!

She put together this outfit the other day, and I thought she looked adorable…love those converse shoes on her.

Finally Max, Max Max - oh, this boy has some personality!  He found Lyv's Tinkerbell shades and refused to take them off. You'll see that he thinks he's to sexy for his shirt.

The child who hasn't made a blog appearance in a while is Jack!  Where is he?  Did I end up selling him to the zoo like I've threatened so many times?  No, he's been flying under the radar lately - not very Jack like I might add, but appreciated.  He's still loving preschool, and lately is obsessed with technology (iPad, computer, iPod, etc.)  He's been trying to convince me to buy him a tablet.  A picture I hope to get is him in action working out.  He models his attire after his father.  Sweet sweaty headband, gym shorts, no shirt and killa tunes!  Love that boy.
