Blast from the Past

So I've really loved seeing other people's pictures from when they were kids, so I actually dug through the photo albums and have these of Shawn and Me to present for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy them.

Shawn & I at 3 years old: I liked these b/c you can see a little of Sam in both of us (okay mostly Shawn, but I can dream can't I?) I also love the scowl that Shawn has on his face b/c that really reminds me of Sam. I failed to mention that I cut my own bangs in this picture! Watch out moms with little girls sooner or later we all find the scissors!!

10 Years Old - gotta love my hair and teeth! oh, and Shawn's hair is pretty sweet! Wow!

High School Graduation - Shawn is and was a big hotty!

Finally a picture of our wedding day - it was freezing cold and yes pictures in the snow but they turned out really pretty! Hope you enjoyed my little flash back.

President Gordon B. Hinckley

I realize this is a little late - but better late than never. President Gordon B. Hinckley made a great impact on me personally, especially on my testimony in living prophets. When I was a senior in high school, our school's choir had the opportunity to sing Christmas songs in the Church Administration Building. We arrived at 7:00 in the morning and began to sing to an empty room. We had started to sing our second song when everyone began to break into tears and an undeniable feeling touched our hearts. Though we could not see President Hinckley we knew he was there. We finished our song and he came out from behind the us and thanked us for coming and singing to him. I remember so distinctly knowing that he was a living prophet, the mouthpiece of God on earth. I am so grateful for the great man he is and the example he has left for us to follow. He had such a great love for life and continued to shoudler his great responsiblities inspite of age and of lonliness after losing his wife, with such optimism and gratitude to be able to have the journey!

Brown and Proud

So I took a color test, which a lot of you have already taken and I was brown -

You're brown, a credible, stable color that's reminiscent of fine wood, rich leather, and wistful melancholy. Most likely, you're a logical, practical person ruled more by your head than your heart. With your inquisitive mind and insatiable curiosity, you're probably a great problem solver. And you always gather all of the facts before coming to a timely, informed decision. Easily intrigued, you're constantly finding new ways to challenge your mind, whether it's by reading the newspaper, playing a trivia game, or composing a piece of music. Brown is an impartial, neutral color, which means you tend to see the difference between fact and opinion easily and are open to many points of view. Trustworthy and steady, you really are a brown at heart.

I thought is was pretty accurate - boring but true! What can I say I like order and a well thought out situations. No flying by the seat of my pants!

To take the test go to http://web.tickle.com/tests/special_question.jsp?test=colorogt and see how colorful you are.

Aloha!

Ha - the title probably makes you think I'm in Hawaii, well not exactly. I'm in the balmy paradise of Denver Colorado for the week babysitting my sister in laws three adorable kids while they are in Hawaii! Though its not the beach or a tropical paradise it is a nice little break from the norm and Sam has been thrilled to have cousins to play with.

Harold the Helicopter

The one big item of news that I failed to mention is Sam's being potty trained. Over Christmas we worked on it and he has done great! No accidents at night (so far) - which was my biggest worry. As a reward, Sam recieved Harold the helicopter for wearing big boy underwear both day and night! Yeah - good job Sammy boy!

Blog Stalking

No new pictures, and not a whole not of new news, but I have been "busy." This past week I've have been led to several other people's blogs and from there have found blogs for people who I haven't seen or heard from in years! I have had a blast catching up with these families through their blogs. So as creepy as it may be - I highly recommend this activity for you. It has been well worth it. Happy blogging

Sledding, Eating, & Singing in 2008

So far we've had a very fun 2008. First we were able to hit the sledding hill in Urbandale and take Sam on many death defying runs. After spraying Sam in the face with snow, we came home for some yummy homemade nachos - oh, I've been dying for Mexican food! Popping in a few tums for heartburn from the greasy nachos we went to ImaginEve for the New Years party for kids. Two downers occured: 1st Sam was mistaken for a girl(wearing blue race car pjs) and the pic I've been dying to get with Mitt was got by Jenni!!! AHHH! Its okay Jenni said I could photo shop my head on her body! Finally the Tolboe's and Summers' commenced on their first annual Singstar duel! Who's a rock star now???
